Road to Right: Justin’s accountability tour

 So i know this falls out of pattern given that it’s a Thursday night and all. I realized a couple of days into the week that I was late on my post and was almost going to do a combo next Monday…but then i realized I’m in the final stretch of the year. In fact I’ve got about five full days left of this year and then the project culminates. So why not still get this entry logged and then close us out with the final chapter on New Year’s Day. Crazy year man. Finishing up the Ohio trip we got to do one of our oldest traditions as a couple: check out the lights at the cinci zoo. The first Christmas I spent in Ohio when we were dating in 2014 she took me to the zoo to meet up with some of her friends, it was so important for her to share that with me. So it seemed insanely fitting to close out the trip there and I gotta say, she’s still just as beautiful as ten years ago. The lights were pretty too. One of the problems i face on a week to week basis is how i view this endeavor. Like i started it in a really really bad place, and throughout the year it has served as a place to trauma dump and bitch when things aren’t exactly going my way. True to form it captures both highs and lows but accountability, by nature, isn’t exactly a positive endeavor. But painting this thing in a negative light tends to skew things unfairly when, after all, life is made of lows and highs and this year has not been devoid of blessings at all. Naturally it is easier to see when things are going well, like this past week. I think I’ve mentioned already but this year I’ve been blessed with going out and seeing, face to face, many people near and dear to me that i haven’t seen in a while and this trip has been no different.  It’s such a weird time of the year. In the army right around this time all units are crossing their t’s, dotting their i’s, and getting everything wrapped up ahead of the American Ramadan where no shit will get done between December 15th and January 4th. Doubly weird in Colorado because half of the working days get canceled or transitioned to telework (playing Xbox while muted on an opsync). Most units don’t schedule important shit between thanksgiving and new years because the give a shit is so painfully low…then there’s mine that sends me to the midwest for a planning conference that could’ve been a series of emails. What’re you gonna do. That’s the main reason i missed my entry last week, by the time i remembered i do regular journal entries i was coming back home before flying out to Chicago for the weekend.
