S2 E16: keep on waiting
As far as fitness goes i took the week off from lifting. My body gently reminded me that I am no longer in my teens. As I increase the amount of BJJ in my weekly routine, I spent a solid few days immobile with back pain and decided to deload. So no big fun updates on that front, picking back up in the weight room this week so we’ll have some updates next week.
Speaking of BJJ, my cardio suuuuuuucks. Even in warmup I’m having to focus on controlling my breathing because otherwise I’m going to pass out five minutes into class. It’s great though, I’m reminding myself how much I benefit from the setbacks and losses of being a noob and picking partners with way more experience than me. It’s great and it’s been wonderful for hunility in defeat ad well as perseverance in general. If anyone is looking for a new activity that promotes cardio, intelligence, resilience, and comes with an unbeatably positive community…check out BJJ.
Dad likes to remind me often that I’m not the best at practicing what I preach when it comes to granting myself some grace in the face of a seemingly never ending and unsuccessful job hunt. I get it, I’m trying, it’s just hard to be positive when there’s no end in sight. I guess then that it’s a good thing i don’t yet have an end date to my army career because I’m covered by a safety blanket. I’m doing my best to practice positivity and continue keeping the faith but man i could really use a fucking win here and there. If anything, i think keeping myself busy with fitness and volunteering is the best use of my time and whatever good energy i put in to the world just hope I see it returned. As always, be nice to yourself and others. Oh, and don’t be dick on the highway dude, ain’t nobody has time for that 🤣
