S2 E26/27: the quo and the build

Right so hey, we made it to July before skipping a week and writing a combined entry? Not bad at all if I do say so myself. It’s not that i got way too caught up in stuff last week, to be honest there was just a lack of writing content to cover so I felt like that entry would’ve just been a bunch of random thoughts and whining. And i didn’t want to do that so we kicked it to the next week which had way more fun shit to talk about.

Week 26 was just kind of a bust man. I really didn’t do much outside of studying, job hunting, and playing video games to keep me occupied and off of the leg. It’s starting to drag weeks into one another and blend memories to where I’m not sure what happened in which week. I can tell you that in week 26 (so not this Friday that just happened but the one before that) I did my follow up with ortho and found out a) how bad my knee is and b) my PA is funnier than I am. I mean really, she absolutely killed in there. “You see that jagged circle with the emptiness next to it? Yeah that’s where your ACL used to connect.”

Wait, so where is it?

“Oh i have no clue, do you have an extra toe down there that’s relatively new? Hahaha aaaaaaaaanyways yeah we’re gonna cut you open to reconstruct that and mend your meniscus”

What’s wrong with my meniscus?

“Oh right, forgot about that, so you tore it straight down the middle long ways and now it’s just kinda flapping about down there.”

So yeah, surgery in a couple of days and I’m lowkey terrified of hospitals already. I can’t wait, I’m so excited, this is the best summer of my life 😳

This last weekend though made up for everything, I got to see Alex and hang out with him for the first time in months. I’m surprised he didn’t cancel. We were supposed to go to a concert at red rocks which i had to cancel (stairs and hiking don’t blend well with crutches) and in general we were super limited to what we could do but this guy made a weekend out of it. Brought his Xbox and set up in the living room and we just gamed like it was high school. Halo 2 type shit, makes me cry thinking about it. I love that guy.

I’ve also had the pleasure of hosting some homies on sundays playing magic, and aside from Loki inserting himself into the middle of every conversation, turn, snack, and drink it’s been great. Can’t wait for the next month to come and go and I’m able to leave my house.

This is gonna suck: I’m not ready to be immobile for two weeks, be taken care of by family who’ve flown across the country, be in a tremendous amount of pain, lose the little mobility that I’ve had these past few weeks. And i know this is a good thing because it’s a step in the right direction and i really get to start the healing process but it’s scary as shit man. I’ll be real, this whole thing is terrifying. What’s been my life recently has been a terribly sad departure from a lot of norms and activities and getting back to those after recovery is the end goal…but the idea of getting cut open is keeping me up at night.

I’ve got some discussions with recruiters this week before surgery and then a couple of counseling appointments at the end of the month to protect and strengthen your boy’s resolve. Big things are coming and I’m nervously excited for half of it. If there’s anything i can leave you with this week it’s actually a request: just good vibes. Send everyone you know some good vibes. It’s hot as shit in some of these states, deadly flooding in others, it’s just a whole ass mess. But your relationships and friendships don’t have to be. Call one of your friends from high school tomorrow and talk for 10 minutes, send a reel that made you smile to a buddy., just generate some good vibes and pass them along. Good vibes are contagious.
